Cemco was founded by 4 members in 1993 and today has developed into a leading group of independent merchants with 25 members, trading out of 124 branches, situated in most parts of the UK as well as Southern Ireland, providing instant access to both heavyside and lightside building materials.
Cemco group members pool their purchasing power to obtain better terms from their chosen suppliers and, in turn, have the ability to be competitive in the market place.
To increase its professionalism, Cemco has since formed into a limited company - Cemco Merchant Network Limited. There is now a board of directors responsible for running the organisation, which has very close relationships with all the members, ensuing the highest level of commitment, culminating in the best possible deals, bringing the ability to compete and increase profitability.
The Cemco group turnover is now in excess of £600 million, with one new member joining last year and more member branches opening by the end of 2008. Cemco's strategy has made it very successful which will ensure continued growth for the group.
Cemco prides itself on its close working relationship with its supplier partners. For 2008, Cemco's objective is to develop these relationships by coming up with a brand new purchasing strategy, furthering the already high commitment to the deals.
Cemco will be bringing in both new members and suppliers in line with the group's recently introduced strategy. Increased emphasis will be put on suppliers to work more closely with the group. New members joining must support specific deals as a condition of membership and their companies will be of at least medium size with no upper limit.
